Jhansi: A legal awareness and literacy programme was organised hereon Monday to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, with a focus oneducating senior citizens and law students about the rights and welfare ofthe elderly.. The event was organized as part of the welfareinitiatives being implemented by the National Legal Services Authority(NALSA) for senior citizens.The speakers emphasized that any form of abuse, neglect or harassment against senior citizens is not only a punishable offence under the law but also contrary to basic human values. They urged people to treat elderly family members with dignity, care andaffection rather than leaving them isolated and vulnerable.DLSA official Adil Jafri, provided detailed information about the freelegal aid services available for senior citizens.
