Koraput: The revenue divisional commissioner (southern division), Berhampur, has sought an urgent report from the collectors of Koraput and Gajapati districts regarding alleged border encroachment and administrative interference by Andhra Pradesh officials in Odisha’s border areas. In a letter issued on Saturday, secretary to the RDC (southern division) Birasen Pradhan directed the district administrations to expedite an inquiry into the matter and submit their findings at the earliest. The communication referred to an earlier letter dated June 6 seeking reports on various issues relating to the inter-state border areas of Koraput and Gajapati districts. According to the RDC’s office, the required reports have not yet been received, delaying the submission of the commissioner’s views to the Odisha govt’s revenue and disaster management department. The letter stated that the pending reports concern “various issues relating to interstate border areas of Gajapati and Koraput districts involving alleged administrative interference by the officials of Andhra Pradesh”.“You are, therefore, once again requested to inquire into the matter and furnish the required report, if any, to this office at an early date for submission of necessary views for consideration of the govt,” the letter said.A copy of the communication has also been forwarded to the special secretary, revenue and disaster management department, for information. The latest development assumes significance amid recurring concerns over jurisdictional disputes and administrative activities in villages located along the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border in Koraput and Gajapati districts.
