JAISALMER: A sensational case involving the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl has come to light at the chief minister’s Rehabilitation Centre in Jaisalmer. Serious allegations have been levelled against the accused associated with the rehabilitation centre, including the alleged sexual exploitation of the girl over several days, threatening her family and the suspicious death of her father.Demands for an impartial and high-level investigation, along with a probe into the functioning of the rehabilitation centre, are gaining momentum. The centre operator has also been accused of threatening the family and illegally keeping the minor’s mother and children in his custody using fake live-in documents.A 12-year-old girl from a village in Jaisalmer narrated her ordeal to the police. Based on her statement, an FIR was registered at the Women’s Police Station under various sections of the BNS and POCSO Act — Sections 64, 65, 74, 115(2), 127(2), 332(A) and Sections 3, 4(2), 51, 6, 7 and 8 of the POCSO Act. Police arrested the accused, Kartik Satiya, on Friday.Meanwhile, the girl’s father died in a road accident while taking his family to Bikaner. The family has alleged that the accident was also suspicious.The investigating officer said the case was registered after the victim underwent a medical examination and her statement was recorded. The accused was then arrested and produced in court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. The investigating officer said police were examining all aspects of the case in detail. The case was registered on Thursday, and the minor’s father died on the same day.According to the information available, serious allegations have been made against Kartik Satiya, the operator of the Chief Minister’s Rehabilitation Centre located in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Residential Colony.A man from a village in Jaisalmer had approached the CM Rehabilitation Centre regarding the care and employment of his differently abled and deaf-mute sister. There, centre operator Kartik Satiya allegedly pressured the man and detained his wife at the centre before driving the husband away after assaulting and threatening him. Using alleged live-in documents, the operator kept the woman in his custody. The couple’s 12-year-old daughter and son were also allegedly kept with him.It is alleged that during this period, the operator sexually exploited the 12-year-old girl multiple times. The girl somehow contacted her family and told them what had happened. The family then sought help from the Child Helpline and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). With the committee’s assistance, the minor was safely rescued.After the rescue, the girl underwent a medical examination at the Women’s Police Station. Her statement was then recorded under Section 164.Following the registration of the FIR, it is alleged that the accused’s side put heavy pressure on the victim’s family to compromise and threatened to kill them. Fearing for the family’s safety, the girl’s father left on a motorcycle with his wife and children to take them to his in-laws’ house in Bikaner. On the way, an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle. He died on the spot. A case was registered at Bajju Police Station against the unidentified vehicle driver.Mahendra Kumar, Investigating Officer and SHO, Sadar Police Station, said, “I have been assigned to investigate this case. After getting the victim’s medical done and recording her statement, the case was registered. The accused was then arrested and produced in court, from where he has been sent to judicial custody. Police are investigating every fact of the matter.”
