Nagpur: Cases pertaining to alleged violation of laws and disruption during political and other protests would be dropped if chargesheets in the matters are not filed till July 31, stated a govt resolution (GR) issued on Monday.This is an extension of an earlier GR, which called for dropping of proceedings in cases where chargesheets were not filed till December 31, 2025. The first GR was issued on December 11 last year.The fresh GR says cases of alleged flouting of law against persons taking part in agitations for political or social causes would be dropped considering July 31 as cutoff date for filing of chargesheets.The GR says political parties or social outfits often hold protests to seek govt’s attention over their demands. Offences are registered against the participants for alleged violation of law, and chargesheets are filed in the matters. Chargesheets were filed in certain cases post-Dec 31 too, and extension of the cutoff date was under consideration. However, the GR also notes that the terms and conditions in line with an order issued in September 2022 will remain in effect.One of the biggest protests during this period was led by former MLA Bachu Kadu, seeking farm loan waiver, during which the farmers had blocked the highways. Following the protests held in October 2025, the state govt formed a committee and came up with a farm loan waiver scheme. At present, protests are going on against the NEET exams paper leak in parts of the state, including Nagpur and Pune.
