Months after taking a break from stand-up following the viral ₹370 biryani controversy, comedian Pranit More has announced his return with a new special titled Ghayal.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, More wrote, “I can’t change what happened, but I can choose who I become because of it. Ghayal is the story of that journey. Beginning in Mumbai.”
The post immediately reignited debate online. While many welcomed the comedian back, others questioned whether the show would revisit the controversy in a way that portrays him as the victim. Some users also drew comparisons with the recent trend of comedians turning controversies into comeback specials.
Supporters flooded the comments with encouragement. One fan wrote, “The Come back , we all were waiting for 🔥🫶🏻” while another said, “Always With You Pranit Bhai❤️🫂.”
Not everyone was convinced, though. One comment bluntly read, “once a misogynist, always a misogynist.” Another joked, “Itni jaldi comeback ko comeback nahi bolte.. aur thode din ghayal hi reh😔.”
One of the most critical comments said, “lol imagine deleting comment because you can’t handle the truth. I will just comment again. If you felt even a bit guilty or sorry for how you conducted yourself or encourage your cheap audience for cheap comments, least you would have done is not name the show “Ghayal” to portray yourself as victim. And other comedians did comeback because they were genuinely funny and made a small mistake. You weren’t ever funny, your content was just cheap jokes with cheap audience members.”
Another user felt the comeback followed a familiar pattern in stand-up. The comment read, “After the whole 370 and doctor girl controversy… Pranit More is back with a new standup show: Ghayal. Same formula we’ve seen from a lot of comedians these days. Controversy happens then comes a new show where they explain what happened what they went through the police and court cases.. n how they got through it all. I don’t have any problem with that… I m actually happy people try to move on instead of letting one incident end their career.”
Others were more cynical. One user wrote, “Pranit More is to drop his sympathy seeking video on 15th of August. What a day he has chosen. In this video he will explain how every joke is a tiny revolution🔥”
Another summed up their reaction in one line: “Same script, different font. The ₹370 biryani and the way he encouraged that joke are finally going to be justified. Pranit More standup lol.”
