Margao: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has filed a police complaint against Congress functionary Savio Coutinho and others, accusing them of trespassing into the solid waste management plant at Sonsoddo without prior permission. The Fatorda police have since issued a notice in connection with the complaint.MMC chief officer Madhu Narvekar said the complaint was lodged based on a report submitted by the council’s technical section. “Coutinho entered the plant without permission, thus violating rules. Nobody is allowed to enter a fully functional plant without permission,” Narvekar said.Coutinho, who had earlier alleged irregularities in the plant’s functioning after entering the premises, hit back at the MMC over the police notice. He linked the complaint to his recent claims regarding the Rs 7.5 crore gasification plant that was recently commissioned, and allegations of fresh, mixed, inorganic waste being dumped on reclaimed land following the Rs 100 crore remediation process.He alleged the authorities were targeting those exposing irregularities instead of acting on them, and vowed to “fight back”.
