Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the redeveloped Piska and Muri railway stations on Friday, railway officials said. The two stations have been revamped at a cost of Rs 10 crore each under the Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) and will be inaugurated along with 73 other redeveloped stations across the country.Construction work at the two stations began in 2023. The redevelopment includes renovated station buildings, new circulating and parking areas, lifts, foot overbridges, platform shelters, waiting rooms, booking counters, water booths, train and coach indicator boards, seating arrangements, and Divyangjan-friendly facilities such as ramps, tactile tiles and accessible toilets. The stations also have new façades reflecting local art and culture.Ranchi divisional railway manager Karuna Nidhi Singh said nearly Rs 200 crore is being spent on redeveloping 15 stations under the Ranchi railway division of South Eastern Railway.“The redevelopment of these stations is part of a larger effort to transform railway infrastructure across the division. Govindpur station has already been inaugurated after redevelopment. While Piska and Muri are ready for inauguration, Lohardaga and Ramgarh stations have also been redeveloped and are ready. Work is progressing at Karra, Namkum, Tatisilwai, Hatia and Ranchi stations,” Singh said.He said redeveloping larger stations is comparatively more challenging as train operations cannot be disrupted during construction. “The work has to be executed in phases while ensuring uninterrupted train movement and passenger services,” Singh said.Officials said the redeveloped Piska station is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters in Ranchi, while the upgraded Muri station is likely to strengthen connectivity to industrial, cultural and religious destinations, supporting regional economic growth and tourism.
