Patuli, Ruby parents demand justice at CM’s Janatar Darbar

Kolkata: Two mothers who lost their sons visited CM Suvendu Adhikari’s ‘Janatar Darbar’ at the BJP state office in Sector V on Saturday, seeking justice. One was Tumpa Nath, resident of Patuli and mother of 8-year-old Ayush Nath, who died on May 24 after falling ill in a Bansdroni school. The other was a resident of Ruby, Snigdha Ghosal, who lost her 24-year-old son, a house staff at Bardhaman Dental College, on June 10, 2024.Nath, who came with her brother to meet the CM, alleged that her son died due to negligence of the school authorities. “We have come here to seek justice. We made several efforts but did not receive any help. This is our last hope,” Nath said. She said that on May 13, her son’s condition started to deteriorate after the second period. “He was not even given water. The school authorities could have made him sit under a fan in a cool room but did not,” she said. “After the sixth period, he said that he could not come down the stairs with his heavy school bag, yet when he tried he fell and severely injured his head. We were not informed beforehand. It was negligence on the school authorities’ part but the police did not take any steps,” Nath said. After remaining in coma for 11 days, Ayush died on May 24. The CM heard their plea and the family said that the CM has given assurance that the matter will be looked into. The school has consistently denied these allegations. In the other case, Vivekananda and Snigdha Ghosal, the parents of Amartya, who was a house staff at Bardhaman Dental College, alleged that their son was killed. “My son was a house surgeon and was returning to work on June 10, 2024. He was killed on way at a place where there was no CCTV coverage. It was a planned murder. He fell victim to threat culture,” Ghosal said. The parents moved court to seek justice. “The court said in 2025 that this was not a traffic accident, there was third-party involvement, hence the investigation that was done by the police has to be set aside and a fresh probe has to be done. Unfortunately, the CID did not do anything at that time,” Snigdha said. Amartya’s father said the CM has assured them that he will do the needful.Several others came to the BJP state office seeking redressal to their grievances and plight. Karuna Bauri and her husband, Bahadur, who live at Dhapa Mathpukur, went to meet the CM seeking help to continue the treatment of their 9-year-old daughter, who has a tumour on her face. “She needs to take several injections before a surgery can be performed, and one injection costs around Rs 80,000, which we are not in a position to afford. We are grateful to the CM as he said that he will take responsibility to bear the expenses for our daughter’s treatment,” she said.
