A video filmed inside a Shatabdi Express, where a man confronted a railway official over the condition of the train during heavy rainfall, has sparked a debate on social media. The incident appeared to have occured inside the 12041 Howrah – New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Shatabdi Express, when rainwater began leaking through the roof of the coach

The footage, which has since gone viral, showed a passenger taking charge of the matter, questioning the official and demanding accountability for the apparent lack of maintenance lapse on the train. “Yeh aadmi paise de ke yahaan pe baithe hain ya nahi boliye (Is this man sitting on this train after paying for the ticket)?” he asked.

Then he questioned him on whether the condition of the coach was suitable for him. As the railway employee attempted to explain that the issue would be addressed, the passenger repeatedly interrupted him, demanding a direct yes or no response to his question. The video captured the moment water dropped from the roof of the coach onto the passenger seats.

At one point, the official was heard making a call to railway staff and reported about the issue. He shared that water was leaking inside coach C-6 over seat number 70, 71, and 72. The passenger was then seen telling the official that Shatabdi Express is among the premium trains in the country and is right after the new Vande Bharat trains, but still there is a lack of proper maintenance.

Internet Says, “There Is A Way Of Complaining”

Since the video was posted, it has gained traction online and left people divided over the confrontation. Many users backed the passenger for raising legitimate concerns; others felt he was unnecessarily aggressive towards the railway official.

“This is really shameful if Shatabdi trains, which are in the premium category of Indian railways, then what do you expect from other trains. Rail minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji do something,” one user said.

Meanwhile, a section called out the passenger’s behaviour, saying, “The TT has so gently handled the situation, if the guy faced a different TT he might have show him the correct way of talking, bhai, there are many issue & process to solve it, TT is not owner, he is servant of railway..so use him to complain but don’t blame him. Improve way of talk.”

“I am sure train main faults honge, which is wrong, but there is a way of complaining. I don’t know why this chap intimidated this official. Kehne ka bhi ek tareeka hota hai. Agar wo nahi sunn raha to baat alag hai phir,” someone else remarked.

Another person said, “Issues are there. But intimidating an employee is not correct. People also lack civic sense.”

A different individual commented, “Useless drama being done by this man. Maintenance issues happen often and these types emerge during the rains only. They should simply highlight in video and tag…but behaving like a don and intimidating an employee when doesn’t have authority to rectify it immediately.”
