A young Indian techie went viral after sharing why he walked away from a “perfect” career in Singapore and returned to India. Aman Vaishnav, who worked as a senior ML engineer, said the move was not driven by career setbacks but by personal reasons that made him reevaluate what success truly means.
Vaishnav shared his story in a video posted on Instagram, acknowledging that many aspiring engineers view working abroad as a major milestone, he explained that unforeseen personal events prompted him to reassess his priorities and make a difficult choice.
In the video, Vaishnav said he had been living a life that many Indian engineers aspire to achieve. He described having a good salary, earning in dollars, and enjoying the benefits that come with a professional career in Singapore.
However, he revealed that certain personal issues, details of which he chose not to disclose publicly, ultimately led him to leave the country and return home.
According to Vaishnav, the decision surprised many people around him. He admitted that some questioned whether leaving a stable and well-paying job abroad was the right move. Despite the uncertainty, he said he has never wanted fear to dictate major life choices.
Reflecting on the transition, he explained that there comes a point when people must decide between maintaining a life that looks impressive from the outside and pursuing one that genuinely feels right to them. While he remains unsure how the decision will work out in the long run, he believes it was the right choice for this stage of his life.
The 26-year-old also shared that he is now rebuilding from scratch in Bengaluru. Starting over in a new city, he said, can be challenging, but he views the experience as an important chapter in his personal and professional journey. He added that some life decisions only make sense in hindsight, and that uncertainty is often part of growth.
Although the video received a modest number of reactions, many social media users applauded Vaishnav for prioritising personal well-being over professional prestige.
Several commenters expressed support for his decision. One user wrote, “Wish you all the best your choice was right god give you all the success.”
Another commenter said, “You dont need a good life but a right life hit me hard,” highlighting how Vaishnav’s message resonated with viewers.
A third user, who appeared to be watching from Singapore, commented, “All the best bhaiya .. love from singapore ❤️”.
Meanwhile, another simply summed up their reaction by writing, “Right life❤️”.
