Berhampur: Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy has urged the Union railway minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to extend the Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad express to Berhampur for facilitating passengers in southern Odisha, especially Ganjam district.In a letter to the railway minister, Panigrahy said, “The residents of Ganjam, who work in Bokaro, will get a direct train from silk city. Besides, the proposed train will be convenient for patients to go to Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in Ranchi. It will also help to boost the tourism in Gopalpur and Chilika. We hope the railway minister will consider my request and take steps.”The Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad express, which was running as a special train before, was regularized by the railways in March. Within Odisha, the train halts at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Rourkela.
