Gurgaon: A 43-year-old woman returning home after submitting her SIR form was allegedly raped by four men, including an auto driver, in Nuh last month. Following her complaint, a case was registered, and one accused was arrested on Sunday.The woman, a resident of Buraka village in Nuh who lives in Sohna, said she travelled to Taoru on June 26 to submit her SIR form at 9 am and was waiting for public transport to get back home.She boarded a shared auto in which three other men were already seated. She alleged that instead of heading towards Sohna, the driver drove towards Nuh on the pretext of picking up another passenger from the bypass.She objected when the vehicle changed route, but one of the occupants allegedly covered her mouth while the driver took the auto to a secluded spot behind a railway line.She further alleged that the driver sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle while the other three men stood outside. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she raised an alarm.She told police that she managed to escape after hearing the sound of a motorcycle nearby. Before fleeing, one of the men allegedly challenged her to approach the police or bring people from her village, claiming that nothing would happen to them.The woman said she reached city Taoru police station immediately after the incident and submitted a written complaint. She also underwent a medical examination. At that stage, she could only recognise the faces of the accused and remembered the registration number of the auto.On July 11, she returned to the police station and identified the four accused as Habib alias Bulla of Chila village, Shakeel alias Titu and Niyamat, both residents of Pachgaon village, and Shaukat of Shikarpur village.Based on her statement, an FIR was registered under sections 64(1) (rape), 76 (assault or criminal force with intent to disrobe or outrage modesty, as applicable), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of BNS.Police arrested Habib on Sunday and said they will seek his custodial remand.Meanwhile, Nuh SP Arpit Jain said social media posts linking the case to a teacher or the SIR exercise are factually incorrect and baseless.He appealed to the public to refrain from sharing or believing unverified information and to rely only on official updates issued by the police.Police said efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused named in the FIR. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
