Two contractors have been booked by the Miyapur police for confining a couple and forcing them to work as bonded labourers for the past four years after they borrowed money for medical treatment.
The case was registered based on the statement of A. Srinu, Mandal Revenue Inspector (MRI), Serilingampally mandal, who stated that Kota Srinivas, 40, had borrowed ₹2 lakh from contractor Ramulu and another ₹1 lakh from contractor Krishna to meet his wife’s medical expenses.
According to the complaint, the two contractors subsequently brought Srinivas and his wife, Ramya, to an under-construction building at Prem Nagar in New Hafeezpet, Miyapur, where they were unlawfully confined and compelled to work as bonded labourers for the past four years.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations.
