A tense video from a hiking trail in Canada has gone viral after a woman and her pet dog were chased by a grizzly bear deep inside a forest. The clip shows how the situation slowly turned dangerous as the bear kept following them closely.
The woman can be seen walking backwards while trying to keep distance from the animal. Her dog repeatedly looks back at the bear, while she tries to scare it away by shouting at it to leave.
Bear Keeps Following On The Trail
In the video, the grizzly bear stays just a short distance behind the woman as she keeps moving away. At one point, the animal even slows down, but the tension continues as it does not fully leave the area.
The woman repeatedly tries to stop the bear by raising her voice and warning it to go away. “No, go away. No.”
The situation becomes more intense when the bear suddenly rushes toward them. The woman does not run, but continues to step back while shouting firmly to scare it off.
“Stop it. Go away. Enough. Stop,” she is heard saying while keeping eye contact with the animal and guiding her dog away from danger.
After a few frightening moments, the bear finally stops chasing them and moves back into the forest. The video ends with the woman and her dog safely leaving the area, both appearing shaken but unharmed.
Experts Highlight Wildlife Safety
The clip was later shared online by commentator Tony Lane, who called it one of the most intense wildlife encounters seen on video. He praised the woman for staying calm under pressure during the incident. He also reminded hikers about safety gear while visiting such areas.
“If you hike, camp, or spend any real time in the wilderness – bear spray is not optional, it is the difference between a story you tell and one somebody else tells about you,” he wrote.
Social Media Reacts To The Clip
The video triggered strong reactions online, with many users calling the situation terrifying and praising the woman for staying calm under pressure.
One user wrote, “That is one smart, brave woman. Animals understand power in your voice. Short, stabs w words like ‘no’ & ‘stop’ translates to hesitancy in the animal. Also she didn’t turn her back to the bear. Excellent!”
A woman hiking in Canada nearly became a grizzly’s next meal and the video circulating right now is genuinely one of the most intense wildlife encounters you will ever watch – her dog is with her, a massive grizzly is right there, and somehow she kept her head together long… pic.twitter.com/VutSzXLeXM— Tony Lane 🇺🇸 (@TonyLaneNV) June 26, 2026
Another wrote, “HOLY CRAP! My heart is RACING just watching this. Kudos to that woman for doing what she did. Can’t turn your back on a bear (or any predator already showing intent to attack). That bear wanted her dog.”
A user added, “Sure. A grizzly bear is charging you and one of your instincts is to record it and keep the bear in frame the entire time. I don’t think so.”
Another comment read, “Scary. I spent a lot of time working and playing in glacier national park and saw them, saw a few mauling victims who lived get choppered out and feared them in general. I met Timothy Treadwell there too and asked him about his fears from the one he filmed in Alaska too, and ironically one ate him several years later.”
A different user said, “The bear knows it can kill you. You just need to convince it you’re way too tough a target. Foxes can kill cats. They know it. They don’t even try because its a tornado of claws that take a month to heal + infections.”
Someone else simply commented, “I crapped my pants just watching that.”
