The idea of a swimming pool becoming a “money-printing machine” has caught the internet’s attention after a content creator shared details of her friend’s business in Meerut. Her claim that the pool earns nearly ₹22.5 lakh per month during summer holidays has divided social media users.
The viral post was shared by content creator Pooja on X, where she recounted a conversation with a friend who owns a farm along NH-58 in Meerut. According to her, the friend has developed a swimming pool on his property, turning it into what she described as a highly profitable seasonal venture.
Pooja said she casually asked her friend whether the swimming pool generated any meaningful income or if it was merely a hobby project. The response, she claimed, was modest. However, as the discussion continued and the figures emerged, she realised the business might be significantly more lucrative than it initially appeared.
According to the post, the swimming pool attracts between 700 and 800 visitors every day during summer holidays. Based on an average footfall of 750 people and an entry fee of Rs 100 per person, the facility would generate approximately Rs 75,000 in daily revenue. Over a 30-day period, that translates to around Rs 22.5 lakh in monthly earnings during the peak season.
Pooja further claimed that the business remains profitable even after the summer rush subsides. She estimated that around 250 visitors continue to visit the pool daily during regular periods. At the same ticket price, the pool would still generate nearly Rs 25,000 a day, amounting to roughly Rs 7.5 lakh in monthly revenue.
Discussing operational expenses, she noted that the land is already owned by her friend, eliminating rental costs. She added that only two security guards are employed at the facility, with a combined monthly salary of approximately Rs 20,000.
One aspect of the business model that particularly caught the attention of social media users was the alleged reuse of pool water. According to Pooja, whenever the water is replaced, it is sold to local farmers for irrigation instead of being discarded. She suggested that this allows the same resource to generate revenue twice, first through swimming activities and later through agricultural use.
The claim quickly drew thousands of reactions online.
One user praised the idea, writing, “The smartest businesses are the ones that make money from the same asset in multiple ways. A swimming pool earning from visitors and then from irrigation water is a great example of maximizing resources. 💧💰”
Another user pointed out that revenue figures alone do not provide the complete picture, commenting, “Every business looks easy from the outside. The real picture only becomes clear when you factor in the expenses along with the income.”
Some users focused less on profitability and more on the lifestyle value of such an investment. One person remarked, “Swimming pools dont need to make money to be worth it. Sometimes the best returns are quiet mornings and splashing laughter.”

Others questioned the reported visitor numbers. One user asked, “700-800 people in a day? How can they enjoy the swimming with so much crowd..and people come specially to his farm only for swimming or he has other amenities too.”
Another commenter expressed even greater skepticism, writing, “Even the most busiest pool in residential area during peak summer the max attendance is 500/700 people per day. You are talking about your friends farm house it means in city outskirts, the pool owner should offer pickup & drop & free food to get 750 people on odd days.”
The claim regarding irrigation also faced scrutiny. One user dismissed the story altogether, stating, “WTF even use the water from pool. Contains chlorine and other chemicals affecting IRRIGATION. Stupid cooked up stories. Engagement irrigation is happening here on X.”
