Hubballi: The selection process for the presidents of the Hubballi-Dharwad Mahamagar zilla Congress and Dharwad rural district Congress started, with a large number of aspirants coming forward for the posts. More than 33 applications were received from different aspirants, for the post of Hubballi-Dharwad Congress president, while 25 applications were received for Dharwad Rural district Congress president post.Senior leaders of Congress party, defeated MLA candidates, former corporators, former Youth Congress presidents, and former and sitting development authority chairmen were among those who applied, according to information available from party circles. The presidents for the DCCs were to be elected under Sanghtan Srijan Abhiyan. Under this process, the selection of the presidents for DCCs was to be carried out without any recommendation, as per the stated framework. Party sources said the approach was intended to follow the prescribed procedure, with emphasis placed on direct assessment rather than endorsements.Observers appointed by the AICC and KPCC already began interactions with local aspirants, workers and other leaders. These interactions were understood to be part of the ongoing evaluation as the process moved forward in both Hubballi-Dharwad and Dharwad Rural. Sources indicated that aspirants were required to fill in extensive information as part of their applications, with focus mainly on organisational and electoral background. The details sought included when the aspirants joined the party, their first position, and their current position in the party, along with other positions held in the party over time.In addition, the information included whether the aspirant had ever been a member of any political party, whether they had ever been expelled or left the party, and whether any criminal cases had been registered against them. With a significant number of aspirants and the involvement of senior leaders, the process in Hubballi-Dharwad was being closely monitored within party circles as the selection under Sanghtan Srijan progressed.Azmatullah Hussaini, AICC observer, said the process of Sanghatan Srijan Abhiyan already started in the district. The DCC presidents will be selected through collective opinions from workers from booth level, block level, constituencies, taluk, district, sitting MLAs, former MLAs, MPs, former MPs, contested MLA candidates, corporators, zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat members and KPCC office-bearers. The collection of opinions by discussing one to one with all the workers and leaders through field visits, the process will be carried out till Aug 16, and on Aug 18 the final report will be submitted to the AICC, and suggest 6 names.
