Prayagraj: A man allegedly shot his father dead near Naya Nagar Dhata road under the limits of Manjhanpur police station of Kaushambi district on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Ram Naresh (48), was a resident of Chattupur village.Upon being alerted, senior police officials, along with forces, arrived at the spot and carried out investigations.According to eyewitnesses, a youth was carrying his father on bike. At some distance he asked the father to step down and shot two bullets at point blank range in his chest. The critically injured man fell on ground while the accused son, Rahul (18), managed to escape.The injured man was taken to Manjhanpur district hospital from where doctors referred him to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. He succumbed to his injuries there during the treatment.The victim was a sanitary worker posted at district collectorate in Kausmabi, said police. As per the initial police investigations family dispute is suspected to be the cause behind the killing. Police have formed three police teams to crack the case.Family members told the police that Ram Naresh lived alone and had illicit relationship with another woman of the same village. He did not support his family financially and his son was against him for leaving his mother, they said.
