A man was left stunned after allegedly receiving a torn book instead of a premium tablet that he had ordered from Flipkart. A video of the open-box delivery has since gone viral on social media, prompting a response from the e-commerce platform.
The customer shared the incident on X, claiming he had ordered the high-end Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ tablet priced around Rs 95,000. As the order was eligible for Flipkart’s open-box delivery service, like most electronic devices, he decided to record the unboxing process while the delivery executive was present.
The video showed the delivery partner handling certain formalities before opening the box in front of him. He tore the seal, and instead of finding a brand-new tablet inside the package, they found a worn-out, torn economics book. “Ordered a 95k tablet and Flipkart handed me a torn n used economics book,” the customer said in the caption.
The delivery executive, who was still at the location, was heard discussing the issue with the customer. The two then agreed that the package should be returned to the seller. Notably, the authenticity of the claims cannot be independently verified.
The video quickly gained traction online, with many users expressing disbelief. Later, Flipkart also responded to the post and apologised for the inconvenience caused to the customer.
They said, “We’d never want you to get anything but what you ordered and are extremely sorry about this instance. We want to sort this out for you. Please share your order details with us through a private chat for the privacy of your Flipkart account.”

The incident triggered a wave of reactions, with many users sharing similar experiences with the e-commerce platform.
One user wrote, “These are becoming increasingly common, especially with Flipkart. Either it’s happening on the seller’s side or on the delivery partner’s side. Honestly, my friends and family stopped ordering from Flipkart if the item is more than 5K. It’s better to buy from offline stores.”
“This is why do you guys even buy electronic items from Flipkart. Just buy it from Amazon; it is much, much safer,” another person said.

“Never buy anything electronic worth 1000₹ or more from any e-commerce sites,” suggested someone else.
Meanwhile, a section of people pointed out that the package seal was already open, saying, “Lol, the left-side seal is clearly visible as it’s already been opened.”
