Udupi: A man from Rajeevnagar in Manipal police station limits has been arrested under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and related offences on Friday. The accused is identified as Jagdish Poojary,33, from Rajivnagar.The arrest order was issued by the inspector general of police, Western Range, Mangaluru, based on a report submitted by the superintendent of police, Udupi district.According to police, the accused has a history of involvement in narcotics-related offences. A total of five cases have been registered against him at the Manipal police station and the CEN Crime police station in Udupi district. Of these, three cases relate to the transportation and sale of narcotic substances, while two cases pertain to drug consumption. Among the three trafficking-related cases, one is currently under trial before a court, while investigation is on in the remaining two cases. In the two drug consumption cases, the accused has already been convicted. The accused will be lodged in Kalaburagi Central Prison.
