Kalaburagi: A 46-year-old man was hacked to death by a group of assailants outside a wine shop on Old RTO Road in the city on Sunday night, prompting a police investigation.The deceased was identified as Ravi Guttedar, a resident of Adarsha Nagar. Ravi, who ran a tea stall and also undertook catering work for functions and events, had gone to a wine shop on Old RTO Road to purchase liquor.According to police, Ravi had just stepped out of the shop and was seated on his vehicle when four men allegedly descended on him. Armed with lethal weapons, they attacked him repeatedly, leaving him with grievous injuries before fleeing the spot.Ravi succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said.Senior police officers visited the spot, conducted an inspection and launched a search to trace the accused. A case has been registered at MB Nagar police station.Investigators suspect that the murder may be linked to an old rivalry. Ravi Guttedar was an accused in a murder case registered at Roja police station in 2021, and police are probing whether enmity arising from that case led to the fatal attack.
