Bokaro: A special POCSO court in Bokaro sentenced a 21-year-old man, Dhananjay Singh, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl in 2025. The court of Additional District Judge (ADJ-III) Devesh Kumar Tripathi found the accused guilty under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act.Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Ravishankar Chaudhary said, “The incident took place on Sep 27, 2025. According to the FIR filed by the girl’s mother, the accused entered the house on the pretext of asking for water while the parents were away at work. He then lured the girl to an under-construction room at the back of the house, where he pinned her down and attempted to rape her.”“The girl’s screams alerted her elder sister, who was on the terrace. Upon her arrival, the accused fled the scene,” said Chaudhary.
