Vadodara: The Special Operations Group (SOG) on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly stocking and selling cough syrup and other medicines illegally in the city. Police said another person suspected to be involved in the racket is absconding and efforts are underway to trace him.According to police, acting on a tip-off, SOG personnel raided the residence of Satnasingh Sikligar on Ajwa Road, where he was allegedly storing a large quantity of cough syrups and medicines without authorisation.During the search, officials recovered a sizeable stock of syrup bottles and tablets. For verification and examination of the seized items, the police summoned officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) to the spot.Police seized 128 bottles of cough syrup along with dozens of tablets from Sikligar’s residence. Investigators identified another accused, Hirav Pandya, who is yet to be arrested.Police said Sikligar will be questioned to ascertain the source of the medicines and identify the individuals to whom the drugs were being supplied.
