Belagavi: RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale said that the Karnataka Kesari Jagannathrao Joshi Memorial Hall should not remain merely a structure, but evolve into a vibrant centre fostering patriotism, service, and social harmony.Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of Jagannathrao Joshi Memorial Hall here on Sunday, he stressed that every inch of the building, constructed with public support, must be dedicated to the welfare of society. He underlined that every contribution made by the public should be utilised for social upliftment, development, and nation-building.Describing the hall as a valuable addition to the service initiatives of the Janakalyan Trust, Hosabale said it should resonate with the spirit of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” through all its activities. He observed that it would be unjust to remember Jagannathrao Joshi merely as a witty orator. “Behind his humour lay remarkable achievement, and behind his laughter was a heart sensitive to societal suffering. Every word he spoke reflected a life dedicated to the nation,” he said.Recalling Joshi’s life, Hosabale highlighted his courage during the Goa liberation movement, his concern for the families of activists during difficult times, and his ability to expose governance failures in Parliament through sharp and effective wit.Calling for the memorial hall to serve a larger purpose, he said it should not be limited to hosting events but must function as a hub for skill development, social service, education, arts, personality development, and promotion of social harmony. He urged that the venue should help nurture a spirit of unity beyond caste, language, class, and regional differences, and inspire the younger generation to imbibe patriotism, discipline, sacrifice, and selfless service from Joshi’s life.On the occasion, Shakuntala Kulkarni, who donated one and a half acres of land, along with contributors including Chaitanya Kulkarni and his spouse, Vijay Purandare, Pune-based sculptor Abhijit Phule, and Mohan Yallappa Lad and family, were felicitated.RSS Prant Sanghchalak Basavaraj Dambal presided over the function, while Gurusiddha Mahaswami of Karanjimath graced the event.
