Kerala govt unveils roadmap to position state as GCC hub

Thiruvananthapuram: Govt on Tuesday unveiled a comprehensive global capability centre (GCC) feasibility report, outlining a strategic roadmap to attract global companies and position the state as one of India’s leading destinations for GCC investments.Launching the report at Kerala GCC Outlook 2026 conclave held at Technopark, industries, commerce, IT and artificial intelligence minister P K Kunhalikutty said the study marks a significant step towards transforming Kerala into one of the country’s most preferred GCC destinations. He said govt intended to pursue the mission by building on the report’s recommendations, highlighting state’s highly skilled talent pool and mature IT ecosystem. While acknowledging certain challenges, he said Kerala could overcome them by leveraging its existing strengths.The conclave served as a platform for discussions on Kerala’s expanding GCC ecosystem and opportunities available to strengthen state’s position as a major GCC hub.Delivering the welcome address, Seeram Sambasiva Rao, special secretary, department of electronics and information technology, said GCCs were driving the next wave of technological transformation and creating high-value employment opportunities across the world. He said Kerala currently hosts more than 45 operational GCCs and has set an ambitious target of attracting 150 GCCs and generating around two lakh associated jobs by 2031. He described the feasibility report as a comprehensive assessment of Kerala’s readiness to scale up GCC investments.The report was presented by Srinivasan Sarvabhouman, chief financial officer of Bengaluru-based ANSR, a company that specialises in establishing GCCs.During the event, Technopark signed a memorandum of understanding with Collabera, while Infoparks Kerala entered into another MoU with ANSR to strengthen collaboration in the GCC sector.V Muraleedharan, MLA, presided over the function. Senior govt officials, industry leaders, GCC executives, consultants and other ecosystem stakeholders attended the conclave.
