Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh govt has prepared a comprehensive tourism development roadmap worth Rs 31.8 crore for the Kanpur Division, with 25 projects aimed at developing religious, historical, cultural and eco-tourism destinations across six districts.The projects were reviewed on Monday by state tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh, who directed officials to ensure quality execution and timely completion of all ongoing works.Chairing a review meeting of proposed and ongoing projects of the tourism and culture department, the minister said the state’s objective is not only to improve tourism infrastructure but also to preserve the heritage and cultural identity of every destination. He instructed officials to maintain high construction standards, ensure effective coordination with public representatives and complete all ongoing projects costing up to Rs 1 crore by November 2026.The proposed projects are spread across the six districts of the Kanpur Division. Kanpur Nagar has received the highest allocation with seven projects, followed by Etawah and Kanpur Dehat with five projects each, Kannauj and Farrukhabad with three projects each, and Auraiya with two projects.Among the major proposals in Kanpur Nagar are the tourism development of prominent religious sites, including Jwala Devi Temple at Bithoor, Shankhula Devi Temple in Bilhaur, Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple in Kalyanpur, and Maa Phulmati Temple in Ghatampur. These projects aim to improve visitor facilities while preserving the historical and religious significance of the sites.In Etawah, proposals have been prepared for the development of Gurudwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, Sri Maa Sati Temple, and Balwanteshwar Mahadev Temple. The government has also proposed the development of Ram Janaki Temple in Auraiya and the establishment of a District Tourism Office at Dibiyapur to strengthen tourism administration in the district.For Kannauj, plans include the development of the ancient Shankar Temple in Chhibramau, Siddha Peeth Doleshwarnath Shiva Temple in Tirwa, and Maa Sheetala Devi Temple. In Kanpur Dehat, proposals cover Shri Hanuman Dham Temple at Rasulabad, Maa Parhul Devi Temple at Akbarpur-Raniya, and Shiv Bageshwar Temple at Sikandra.Similarly, tourism development proposals have been submitted for the ancient Shiva Temple at Kaimganj, Shri Sitaram Thakurdwara Temple at Amritpur, and Shri Ram Janaki Temple at Bhojpur in Farrukhabad.The department of culture also placed three important proposals before the meeting. These include the beautification and redevelopment of the Ramlila Ground in Kamalganj Nagar Panchayat, the establishment of a museum in Farrukhabad, and the creation of a Children’s Museum in Kannauj. Officials said these initiatives would help preserve the region’s cultural heritage while promoting educational tourism.The meeting also reviewed an eco-tourism project worth around Rs 4 crore proposed by the Eco-Tourism Board near the Dafarpur Wetland in Farrukhabad. The project includes the construction of a Nature Interpretation Centre, watchtower, yoga pavilion, gazebo, and other visitor amenities to promote nature-based and sustainable tourism in the region.The review meeting reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening heritage conservation, expanding tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable tourism across the Kanpur Division.
