Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Ajay Rai on Friday sparked a political controversy after a video surfaced showing him making inappropriate remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The incident, recorded while Rai was inside a car, has quickly gone viral on social media.
In the clip, Rai is seen waving to a group of supporters as he makes the remarks, prompting sharp criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party leaders shared the video online, accusing the Congress leader of crossing all limits of political decency.

The controversy has since escalated into a full-scale political confrontation, with senior BJP leaders launching strong attacks on the opposition party.
Strong BJP Reaction
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the remarks, calling them “indecent, unparliamentary, and inexcusable”. He said the statement reflected what he described as the “political depravity” of the Congress party, adding that repeated defeats had pushed the party into “despair and frustration”.
“The Congress has now reached the pinnacle of desperation, despair, frustration, and mental bankruptcy. Now, they are no longer even in a position worthy of seeking forgiveness from the countrymen,” Adityanath wrote on X.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya also criticised Rai, pointing out that Prime Minister Modi had recently wished him well during an illness. He said it was unfortunate that such courtesy was met with what he described as abusive language.
“This is the level of Congress’s politics – responding to courtesy with rudeness,” Malviya noted.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also reacted strongly, alleging that indecent language within the Congress had become widespread. He said the party had “crossed all boundaries of propriety” and accused it of using abusive language as a political tool.
He further claimed that repeated electoral setbacks had weakened the Congress organisationally and politically.
“The truth is that every abusive word uttered by Congress leaders against the honorable Prime Minister ji is proof of the pain from their repeated political defeats and the desperation of being distanced from power. The people of the country will give a resounding democratic response to such arrogant and cultureless leaders,” Maurya said.
