The Jodhpur Municipal Corporation North has established the city’s first cooling station in Kabir Nagar. The cooling station established by the Women’s Housing Trust, is proving to be beneficial for the public during the heatwave. (File Photo)

Reportedly, there will be a difference of approximately 7 to 8 degrees between the outside temperature and the cooling station temperature. Furthermore, adequate seating arrangements have also been made for visitors, along with drinking water and sanitation. (Image: X)

According to reports, solar panels installed on the shelter generate electricity to power fans, lights and a misting system. The roof is coated with solar reflective paint that bounces sunlight away instead of absorbing it. Beneath the roof, insulation prevents heat from building up inside the structure. The shelter also uses traditional cooling principles – wet khus (vetiver) curtains cool the air as it passes through them, while a wind tower helps push hot air out and draw cooler air inside. As per The Better India, the space can accommodate around 40 to 45 people at a time and provides access to drinking water, ORS and basic first aid. (File Photo)
