Panaji: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its yellow alert for Goa until July 28, forecasting heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph in isolated areas across the state.According to IMD, moderate rainfall is likely over the next seven days, with heavy showers expected at a few places from July 26 to 28. No weather warnings have been issued for July 29 to 31, although moderate rainfall is expected to continue.Goa continues to face a seasonal rainfall deficit. Between June 1 and July 25, the state has received 1,161.8mm of rainfall against the normal 1,772.9mm, resulting in an overall deficit of 34.5%.North Goa remains the worst affected, recording 1,036mm of rainfall against the normal 1,805.8mm — a deficit of 42.6%. South Goa received 1,272.9mm against the normal 1,743.8mm, a shortfall of 27%.
