A man from Gwalior allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison, accusing his wife of harassment, and is currently in critical condition undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to police, the incident took place at the Manpur government housing complex under Bahodapur police station limits, where the man, identified as Venkat Sharma, consumed a poisonous substance inside his flat.
Before the incident, Venkat recorded a video detailing his trauma and shared it on a society WhatsApp group. In the video, he made serious allegations against his wife, claiming she was involved in multiple relationships and was keeping their son away from him.
He further alleged that his wife was in frequent contact with several people late at night and said that when he confronted her over the issue, he was allegedly threatened. Venkat also claimed that he was being denied access to his son, which led to severe emotional distress.
After consuming poison, Venkat’s condition worsened, prompting neighbours to rush him to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Police said they have begun an investigation based on the video statement and other available evidence. Officials added that the allegations made in the video are being verified and that statements from relevant individuals will be recorded as part of the probe.
