2 suspected shooters linked to fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau were injured and apprehended following a police encounter near Manesar.

GURGAON: In a major breakthrough against organized crime, Gurgaon Police on Saturday foiled an alleged plot to murder a businessman in Bahadurgarh after two suspected shooters linked to fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau were injured and apprehended following a police encounter near Manesar. The accused, identified as Karan alias Romi (24) and Pravesh (21), both residents of Delhi’s Kanjhawala area, sustained bullet injuries to their legs during an exchange of fire with Crime Branch teams in the early hours of Saturday.According to police sources, the two men were key associates of Haryana’s most wanted gangster Himanshu Bhau and were allegedly on their way to execute a planned killing of a businessman in Bahadurgarh when they were intercepted by Gurgaon Police. Their arrest is believed to have prevented a major crime and potentially saved the intended target’s life.Crime Branch teams from Sectors 39 and 40 had received specific intelligence that the duo, wanted in multiple robbery and firing cases in Delhi, were travelling from Bilaspur towards Gurgaon on a motorcycle while carrying illegal firearms. Acting swiftly, police laid a trap near Pachgaon Chowk. When the suspects were spotted between 2 am and 2.30 am, they allegedly attempted to flee towards a service road. Their motorcycle fell after police teams surrounded them. Police said the duo then opened fire in a bid to escape, with bullets striking a police vehicle.Despite repeated warnings to surrender, the accused allegedly continued firing, prompting the police team to retaliate in self-defence. Both suspects were eventually overpowered and taken into custody.Police said around 13 to 14 rounds were fired during the encounter, including nine to ten rounds by the accused and four rounds by the police. The injured accused were admitted to a hospital and will be formally arrested after being discharged.A case has been registered at Manesar Police Station. Forensic and fingerprint experts examined the encounter site, where police recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, a revolver, two magazines and several empty shell cartridges.Investigators said the accused were wanted in connection with multiple robbery and firing incidents in Delhi, including cases registered in Kanjhawala and Mundka. Police records indicate that nearly two dozen criminal cases are registered against the duo in Delhi and Haryana under charges of extortion, robbery, attempt to murder and violations of the Arms Act.The arrest of the two alleged shooters is being seen as a significant setback to the Himanshu Bhau gang, which has been linked to a series of violent crimes, extortion rackets and targeted attacks across Haryana and Delhi.
