Nagpur: A major fire broke out in a laboratory and chemical storage room of a scientific equipment company at Kachipura on Saturday afternoon, causing damage estimated at around Rs80 lakh before firefighters brought the blaze under control. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.According to the Civil Lines fire station, an emergency call was received at 12.21 pm, informing authorities about a fire at Central Scientific Company, a G+2 building located at Kachipura. Two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.The firefighting team reached the site and launched operations to contain the blaze. Fire officials said the flames engulfed the laboratory and chemical storage section of the establishment.Several items were damaged in the incident, including electrical equipment, two computers, three air-conditioning units and medical materials stored inside the premises. The owner of the establishment, Sanjiv Arora, estimated the loss at around Rs80 lakh. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze by using a single water line, preventing the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. Officials estimated that property worth nearly Rs1.5 crore was saved due to the timely intervention of the fire brigade. The fire was brought under control in about two hours.
