A sudden power outage at Six Flags Over Texas left roller-coaster riders stranded hundreds of feet above the ground as evacuation videos spread online.
All visitors were safely brought down
Power suddenly went out at Six Flags Over Texas, turning a regular day at the amusement park into a tense experience for several visitors. The outage left multiple rides stuck mid-air, including some of the park’s biggest roller-coasters, while videos from the scene quickly spread online.
Many people were especially shocked after seeing riders stranded hundreds of feet above the ground before being guided down emergency staircases attached to the tracks. The clips triggered strong reactions online, with users calling the situation “terrifying” and “a nightmare for anyone scared of heights.”
Riders Stranded High Above Ground
According to Firstpost, the blackout happened after an outside construction crew accidentally damaged an underground power line, cutting electricity across the park. The sudden outage forced several rides to stop immediately, including The Titan and Mr Freeze roller-coasters.
One of the most widely shared videos showed nearly 30 riders stuck at the top of The Titan roller-coaster, around 245 feet above the ground. The train had stopped near the highest point of the ride, leaving passengers stranded high in the air.
Park workers later began evacuating riders one by one. Visitors were carefully unbuckled and guided down a narrow staircase attached to the track. Strong winds and the extreme height made the scene even more tense for both riders and viewers online.
Viral Video Sparks Reactions Online
The evacuation clip soon crossed millions of views on X, with many social media users reacting to the frightening visuals.
A person wrote, “As someone with acrophobia, walking down those tracks that high up would probably feel like a horror movie for me.”
Another commented, “This is the ultimate nightmare for anyone with a fear of heights. Walking down those narrow stairs is probably scarier than the actual ride.”
A person said, “My worst nightmare! I would need someone to hold my hand.” Another added, “Somebody really thought this plan was foolproof.”
Several viewers also pointed out how dangerous the staircase looked, especially because only a small handrail separated riders from the steep drop below.
Park Confirms Everyone Was Safe
The disruption also affected indoor attractions. According to Firstpost, people waiting near the Mr Freeze coaster said the lights suddenly went out before announcements confirmed the power failure across the park.
Six Flags spokesperson Cyle Perez later reportedly said emergency crews safely evacuated all stranded guests from the affected rides. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The amusement park closed early following the outage, and affected visitors were reportedly given complimentary return tickets. Electricity was later restored by Oncor Electric Delivery, and the park reopened the following morning as scheduled.
