Tirupur: A special court in Tirupur has sentenced 25 Bangladeshi nationals to two years of rigorous imprisonment for staying in India without valid travel documents or identity papers.In June 2025, the Palladam police received a tip-off about a group of foreign nationals living illegally in the Karaipudhur area. Acting on the information, a police team conducted a raid and detained 25 individuals.During verification, police found that none of them had valid passports, visas and Indian residency permits. Police seized Bangladeshi national identity cards from them. All 25 were arrested, and a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Foreigners Act and passport rules.On Friday, sessions judge M Suresh found all 25 accused guilty of illegal entry and illegal stay in the country and sentenced each of them to two years in prison.After serving their sentences, they will be deported to Bangladesh.
