Prayagraj: A major fire broke out at a vehicle yard in the Malwan police station area of Fatehpur district on Tuesday afternoon, engulfing around a dozen seized vehicles parked on the premises. Prompt action by the police and fire brigade prevented the blaze from spreading further.According to police officials, the incident took place between 11:30 am and 12 noon near Baroura village along the highway. The yard is reportedly used for parking vehicles seized or repossessed by finance companies. Around 134 small and large vehicles were stationed at the site when the fire erupted.Police said that as soon as information about the fire was received, teams from Malwan police station and the UP-112 emergency service, along with the fire department, rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control after considerable effort.Initial reports suggest that around 12 to 13 vehicles were partially or completely damaged in the incident, while the remaining vehicles were shifted to safety in time. No casualties or injuries were reported.Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have originated in a nearby agricultural field due to a fault in a low-tension electricity line passing overhead. Sparks allegedly triggered a fire in the dry field, which gradually spread to the adjacent yard.According to SP, Fatehpur, Abhimanyu Manglik, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. He also appreciated the swift response of the police and fire personnel, saying their timely action prevented a much bigger loss at the crowded yard.
