An 11-year-old Class 6 student died after he was electrocuted inside a government school in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district, prompting more than 300 locals, students and relatives to stage a protest demanding action over the incident.

According to a police source, the boy was on his way to fill his water bottle when he came into contact with a live wire and suffered a fatal electric shock.

The incident triggered protests in the area, with school students and relatives staging a road blockade.

More than 300 locals reportedly participated in the protest, demanding justice and action in connection with the boy’s death.

Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances that led to the electrocution, including how the live wire was exposed inside the school premises.

The case is currently under investigation.
