Keonjhar: Panic spread in Bamebari police station area after a 75-year-old man was killed by a tusker late Saturday night.The incident took place in Gurubeda village under Joda block. The man was identified as Jatra Munda of Munda Sahi in Gurubedavillage. Sources said Jatra Munda was sleeping outside his house Saturday night. Late night, a tusker suddenly crossed Baitarani river at Bali Dam and entered Gurubeda village unnoticed. While moving through the village, it approached a house looking for food. Villagers said the old man could not run away after seeing the tusker and was attacked. He died on the spot.After being tipped off, forest staff along with police rushed to the spot and recovered the mutilated body. Later, policesent it for post-mortem. “A case of unnatural death was registered at Bamebari police station in this regard,” said Jhasaketan Bhoi, IIC Bamebari police station.
