Trust Mumbai Police to turn every viral pop culture moment into a lesson on safety. With Prime Video’s new romantic drama, Off Campus, which is based on a book series by Elle Kennedy by the same name, topping charts and dominating online discourses, Mumbai Police once again took it upon themselves to use the popular show to deliver a public safety announcement.

Inspired by Off Campus, Mumbai Police took to social media and shared a picture, featuring the lead couple, Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) side by side, where both were seen wearing helmets. While Graham was seen in his hockey helmet, Hannah was wearing her bike helmet.

The text on the image read: “Off Campus or on the ice, helmet always comes first.” Mumbai Police’s reference to the popular show did not stop there. In the caption, they wrote, “Safety is always a big ‘Deal’. One move can change the game,” a nod to The Deal, the first book in the series.

In no time, the post caught attention of people on social media, with many praising the individual or team behind such creative way of warning citizens about their safety. Celebrities joined the bandwagon in appreciating Mumbai Police’s efforts, with YouTuber and actress, Prajakta Koli, aka Mostlysane, saying, “10/10 to the person running this account!”

Host and actress, Mini Mathur, penned, “This account manager/ creator has my (heart).”

Even Prime Video’s official account, the streaming platform where Off Campus was released, also commented. They called Mumbai Police’s announcement, “Crossover of the year.”

Meanwhile, one individual wrote, “The account manager for @mumbaipolice is just sooooooooo insane !!!!! Amazing hats off, love it”

Another commented, “As always @mumbaipolice on point!!”

Someone else added, “Kudos to Mumbai Police for educating the nation in the language of the internet.”

Off Campus revolves around Hannah, a music major at Briar University, and Garett, the hockey team captain of the same university. What starts as a “fake relationship” between them becomes a real romance when they fall for each other. Following the series’ success, its lead stars appeared on a number of talk shows, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

During their appearance, Ella discussed why her character, Hannah, would wear a helmet throughout the first season. She shared, “Hannah looks super cool doing it. Safety first.”
