BENGALURU: A 12-year-old Class V student died after collapsing on the premises of a private school in Bengaluru, with his family alleging that a delay in providing medical assistance by the school staff cost him his life. The incident occurred on July 10 at a private school in Maruthi Layout, Pillaganahalli, on Bannerghatta Road.According to a complaint filed by the boy’s mother, the student had informed his class teacher that he was feeling unwell shortly before the incident, but no immediate attention was paid to his condition. The boy reportedly collapsed around 1. 30pm while returning to his classroom. CCTV footage is said to have captured the incident. He was attended to by students and staff and taken back to the classroom. The family alleged that the school failed to rush the child to a hospital and informed his parents only about 45 minutes after he collapsed. The parents then took him to a nearby hospital on a motorcycle, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.According to the family, doctors told them that the child’s life might have been saved had he been brought to the hospital immediately after collapsing.Based on the mother’s complaint, the Konanakunte Police have registered a case of unnatural death (UDR) and launched an investigation into the incident.
