CIIL hosts workshop to review, refine and standardise technical terminology

Mysuru: To review, refine and standardise technical terminology related to testing and evaluation practices across Indian languages, in alignment with the NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) organised a five-day workshop on the ‘Review of Glossary Terms in Testing and Evaluation in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Odia, Hindi and Telugu Languages’. The programme commenced on Monday. The workshop is significant in the context of multilingual education and emphasis on Indian languages in teaching, learning and assessment under NEP 2020.The standardised terminology is expected to support teachers, curriculum developers, translators, researchers and learners, while improving the quality of testing and evaluation practices.The workshop, which will be on till May 22, has brought together linguists, educationists, translators and academic reviewers from universities and institutions across the country.PR Dharmesh Fernandez, deputy director of CIIL, who inaugurated the event, highlighted the need for linguistically consistent and academically reliable terminology to strengthen inclusive educational practices. He also emphasised CIIL’s role in promoting multilingual academic resources and language-based research.
