Belagavi: A delegation of the Consulting Civil Engineers Association (CCEA), led by its president Ajay P Patil, submitted a memorandum to Belagavi city corporation commissioner M Kartik on Thursday, opposing the annual 10% increase in development charges and building permission fees. The association stated that the recurring hikes have placed a significant financial burden on the citizens planning to construct residential and commercial buildings. CCEA urged the corporation to review the policy and adopt measures that safeguard public interest while promoting sustainable growth in the construction sector. The delegation also highlighted the difficulties being faced with the newly introduced Unified Land Management System (ULMS) for building permission approvals. Frequent software errors, server issues, document upload failures, and administrative complications arising from ward mapping have severely affected the building approval process. The commissioner assured that the representations would be examined and appropriate action would be taken. Engineer Ramesh G Tubachi, Anand Kulkarni, Umesh Sarnobat, Chandrakant Mangutti, Veeresh, Bhimsen, and Sadiq Inamdar participated.
