Buying your way into a company is difficult, especially when you are still in school and have little professional experience. But one old email exchange, recently shared on X, has sparked discussion because of how simple and direct it was. Many users said the message stood out because it avoided long introductions and got straight to the point.
The post was shared by an X user with the caption, “best cold email I’ve ever seen.” Along with the caption, the user posted a screenshot of an email conversation that appears to show a student reaching out to Snapchat’s leadership team in search of an internship opportunity. While the screenshot has attracted widespread attention, its authenticity could not be independently verified.
Student Keeps His Email Short
The screenshot shows an email with the subject line “Internship.” The sender introduced himself as Niraj Pant and immediately acknowledged that the recipient’s time was valuable.
“I understand your time is valuable. I’ll only write three bullet points,” the email read.
The student then listed three short points about himself. He said he had been programming since the eighth grade and had experience working with Java, Objective-C, Android and iOS. He ended the email with a direct question: “Want to intern for Snapchat this summer as a high school junior. How?”
Unlike many internship requests that include long explanations and detailed resumes, the message was brief and focused on only a few key details.
The Reply Was Just As Brief
The screenshot also shows a response that appears to be from Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel. “Hey 🙂 appreciate the brevity,” the reply said.
The response further stated, “Copying Ona our lead recruiter.” The exchange suggests that the email was forwarded to a recruiter for further consideration.
The screenshot does not reveal what happened afterward or whether the student eventually secured an internship.
Users Praise The Direct Approach
As the post gained traction, comments poured in from users who admired the straightforward style of the email.
A user wrote, “Bro cracked it.” Another said, “Bro is like I have other options too.”
“This one is legendary,” a person said.
“Take out ‘I’ll only write 3 bullet points’ then it’s solid,” a different person wrote.
A comment read, “Hey if it works it works. I know google hired a kid a couple years back because he mailed them a shoe with his resume – note: Just trying to get my foot in the door.” Someone else said, “always be straight to the point.”
