Bidar: An English teacher from a government primary school in Boral village of Aurad taluk sponsored an air trip for three SSLC students who scored more than 95 in English, rewarding their academic achievement and encouraging excellence among rural students.Satish Majage, an English teacher at the Govt Primary School in Boral and a native of Eklar village, spent around Rs 20,000 from his own pocket on airfare, food and accommodation for the students. The initiative fulfilled a promise he had made during a school programme, where he had assured students that those scoring above 95 in English in the SSLC examination would be taken on an air journey.According to school authorities, three students of the achieved the target in the 2025-26 SSLC examination. Omkar Kallappa Ramgond scored 97 marks, while Bhagyavanti Ashok Biradar and Ankita Siddappa Deshatte secured 96 marks each in English.The three students, accompanied by teacher Suryakant Nagure and parent Siddappa Deshatte, flew Star Air, from Hyderabad to Tirupati on May 31.Majage said the programme was aimed at motivating students to develop a competitive spirit and experience opportunities often considered beyond the reach of children studying in govt schools.“Students in rural areas possess immense talent and it is the responsibility of teachers to encourage them. I am happy that the children from my native village school experienced air travel and enjoyed a memorable moment in their lives,” he said.
