T’puram: Goethe-Zentrum in association with Banner Film Society will screen award-winning German movie ‘Sophie Scholl-The Final Days’ (2005), a biopic on anti-Nazi activist Sophie Scholl, at 6.30pm on Wednesday. The movie will be screened at the amphitheatre of Goethe-Zentrum in Jawahar Nagar, Kowdiar.Directed by Marc Rothemund and written by Fred Breinersdorfer, the film depicts the final days of Scholl, a highly revered figure of German resistance, who stood against Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. She was eventually executed by the regime for handing out anti-Nazi leaflets at the university where she studied. The film was presented at 55th Berlin International Film Festival in Feb 2005 and won Silver Bear awards for best director and best actress (Julia Jentsch).
