A video showing devotees packed shoulder-to-shoulder outside Vrindavan’s Banke Bihari Temple has reignited concerns over crowd management and visitor safety.

Many said darshan felt more like crowd survival
A huge crowd outside Vrindavan’s Banke Bihari Temple has triggered fresh discussion online, with many devotees saying the rush has made darshan difficult and exhausting.
Thousands of people visit Vrindavan every day, but a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter) has once again highlighted concerns around crowd management near one of the town’s most visited temples.
A Clip Shows Packed Temple Lanes
A video posted on X shows a massive crowd gathered outside the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. The footage, recorded from an elevated spot, captures devotees filling the narrow lanes around the temple.
The clip begins with a view of the crowded street leading towards the temple area. As the camera moves across the scene, people can be seen packed closely together, leaving very little space to move.
Shops and buildings on both sides of the lane are surrounded by devotees trying to make their way through the crowd.
At several points in the video, the sheer number of people becomes visible as the camera pans across different sections of the road. Long stretches of the lane appear completely occupied by visitors.
The user who shared the clip on X captioned it, “Avoid going vairndavan right now , so much crowded.”
The footage has since drawn significant attention, with many users sharing their own experiences of visiting the temple during busy periods.
People Share Their Experiences
Many users said the crowd levels shown in the video were not unusual for the temple. A user commented, “Isn’t it the same 365 days.”
Another wrote, “Visited Banke Bihari Mandir in April. Absolute chaos, huge crowds, constant pushing, 0 civic sense, 0 queue discipline, filthy surroundings with litter everywhere. It urgently needs better crowd management & space for devotees. Darshan should feel spiritual, not like crowd survival.”
Someone said, “The situation there is absolute menace! Filled with people with absolutely no civic sense, line manners and true devotion Vrindavan Banke Bihari Temple needs a corridor urgently but the corrupt ones at the peak of pyramid won’t let that happen. Let the poor suffer.”
Others also raised concerns about infrastructure around the temple area. “Vrindavan is in a very bad condition, I feel for the pilgrims. Avoid going until the government improves the infrastructure and standards around and in the temple. Hindu temples are the most disrespected and undervalued places in our country. Just look at the conditions of churches in Italy OR mosques in Turkey. They treat the religion and religious people in the way they deserve. We just don’t,” another person wrote.
A comment read, “Last month I visited Banke Bihari Mandir. I will never go until there are proper arrangements with adequate space. Gharse bhi Bihariki darshan hojayegi.”
Someone else added, “I also travelled to Vrindavan, Baake Bihari 4-5 times and literally every time I need to suffer from the crowd. My last visit was also with an extreme crowd that I was not even able to move my feet an inch. The government needs to do something with the development of the entrance.”
