Around 350 companies to participate in job fair

Mangaluru: The 16th edition of Alva’s Pragati scheduled to be held on Aug 7 and 8 will see around 350 companies with around 24,000 jobs from across different sectors at the Alva’s Vidyagiri Campus in Moodubidire. The event is organised as a part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the institute. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Vivek Alva, managing trustee of Alva’s Education Trust, said that the primary aim of the institute is to empower students from rural background and govt colleges.He said we all like equality, but there are inequalities in society, among which is unemployment, and that Alva’s is providing this initiative for the past two decades. Alva also announced that the institute will provide free of cost travel facility for students travelling from far locations like Kundapura, Puttur, Uppala and others. He said that they will conduct orientation for students in several locations in the region, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasaragod.So far, around 4,527 students have registered, and we are expecting around 5,000 registrations purely for the IT sector, he said. He also announced that the institute will soon integrate an AI chatbot at the venue to assist candidates.In a release, the organisers said that the registration of 326 companies has been confirmed to date, and around 24,298 jobs are available. Fresh graduates of 2026 batch and candidates who graduated in previous years are also eligible to apply. SSLC and PUC pass candidates can also participate. Students coming from outside the state or districts can get free accommodation facilities.The placement drive is expected to feature the participation of top recruiters representing major sectors including IT/ITeS, manufacturing, healthcare and pharma, sales and retail, banking and finance, hospitality, education & NGO, media, electronics and telecommunication sectors.
