April 2026 Midsize SUV Sales – Creta No.1, Victoris Beats Seltos & Grand Vitara

The midsize SUV is currently the most competitive segment in the Indian PV (passenger vehicle) market. Buyers are spoiled for choices with several models, offering multiple engine options, advanced tech, and prices ranging from Rs 11 lakh to 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai Creta has dominated this segment since its market launch, and continues to strengthen its presence with each passing month.

Key Insights:

In April 2026, the South Korean automaker sold 15,291 units of the Hyundai Creta, commanding 13.4% share of the midsize SUV segment. However, the SUV witnessed a 10.1% YoY (Year-on-Year) decline against 17,016 units sold in April 2025.

Interestingly, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris emerged as one of the biggest surprises of the month, outselling both the Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. The SUV recorded sales of 13,701 units and captured a 12% segment share.

The new Kia Seltos registered sales of 10,556 units compared to 6,135 units in the same month last year, marking a significant 72.2% YoY growth. The SUV accounted for a 9.3% share of the segment.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor managed to sell 9,115 units of the Urban Cruise Hyryder compared to 4,642 units in the same month last year, marking a strong 96.4% YoY growth.

Toyota’s Hyryder also outperformed the Maruti Grand Vitara, which registered sales of 7,718 units against 7,154 units in April 2025. The Tata Sierra closely followed the Grand Vitara with 7,316 units sold during the month. On monthly basis, the SUV’s sales declined by 18.7% from 9,003 units in March 2026.

Renault India dispatched 2,359 units of the Duster, with deliveries commenced last month. The carmaker registered an impressive 108% YoY growth in April 2026, driven majorly by the new Renault Duster. Aiming to further strengthen its presence in the Indian market, the French automaker has lined up multiple new SUVs including the Duster hybrid, 7-seater Duster and the all-new Bridger.
