Belagavi: The 79th birthday of KLE Society honorary executive chairperson and Padma Shri awardee Dr Prabhakar Kore was celebrated with grandeur in his native Ankali village in Chikodi taluk on Saturday.Channasiddharama Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamiji of Srisailam Peeth inaugurated the celebrations by watering a sapling. Dr Kore and his wife Asha Kore were felicitated by various organisations and villagers. Dignitaries, including Karnataka government’s Special Representative in Delhi Prakash Hukkeri and Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar, attended the programme.Shettar lauded Kore’s contributions to education, healthcare, cooperation and industry, saying his efforts over four decades have significantly contributed to North Karnataka’s development and brought national and international recognition to Belagavi through KLE Society.Kore’s daughter Preeti Dodwad described his life as a symbol of service, discipline and dedication.Responding to the felicitations, Dr Kore said the Padma Shri honour was possible because of the support of the people, colleagues and well-wishers.A mega blood donation camp organised by KLE Dr Prabhakar Kore Medical and Research Centre saw over 400 donors participate. Fodder was also distributed to cowsheds as part of the celebrations.
