Times News NetworkKanpur: A fire broke out in the parking area of a three-storey house in the Barra police station area of the city on Thursday night, gutting household belongings and a car, while the family escaped without injury.Four fire tenders reached the spot after receiving information and doused the blaze in nearly two hours. The extent of the loss could not be assessed immediately.The house belongs to Dhirendra Sachan, a resident of Vishwa Bank Barra H Block, who is a real estate businessman. His son Sudhanshu is an advocate.According to Sudhanshu, at around 10 pm on Thursday night, after dinner, he, his father, mother Sunita and wife Shweta went to sleep in rooms built across the three floors when a fire suddenly broke out in the parking area.The Safari vehicle, a Bullet and e-scooty caught fire, which made the blaze more severe. He said they realised that a fire had broken out when smoke filled the house, and they fled with family members and saved their lives.Fire personnel brought the blaze under control after about two hours of effort, he said. The affected homeowner estimated the loss in lakhs.Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma said the causes of the fire were being looked into. The fire was brought under control in time and there was no loss of life in the incident, he said.
