Kanpur: A 40-year-old man was beaten to death by four people, including a mother-son duo, in Panki area of Kanpur on Wednesday afternoon.The victim, Tejveer Singh, a resident of Panki Mahaveer Nagar, was found drunk by the roadside when the assault took place.His wife Meena witnessed the attack and attempted to save him, before getting him admitted to Kalyanpur CHC. Due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning. Police have stated that action will be taken based on the woman’s complaint and the post-mortem report.Tejveer Singh, 40, worked as a painter and is survived by his wife Meena and three children — Shiva, Shivani, and Dali. His wife stated that on Wednesday afternoon, she was heading to the market when she found her husband Tejveer lying drunk by the roadside near the market. At that point, three youth, selling ice cream in the market, and a woman began beating him.Upon witnessing this, she intervened and saved her husband. He was taken to Kalyanpur CHC, from where doctors referred him to LLR Hospital due to his critical condition. He died during treatment on Thursday morning.Panki police station in-charge Dinesh Kumar Bisht stated that action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report and the written complaint from the family.
