Prayagraj: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the detailed vacancy break-up for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2025, through which recruitment will be carried out for 3,522 posts in various ministries, offices and departments of Central govt.The vacancies include posts like lower division clerk (LDC)/junior secretariat assistant (JSA), postal assistant/sorting assistant, and data entry operator (DEO).According to the commission, the total number of vacancies increased from 3,131, announced at the time of notification on June 23 last year, to 3,522, marking an increase of 391 posts.Of the total vacancies, 1,675 are for the unreserved category, 768 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 337 for economically weaker section (EWS), 490 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 252 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).Among departments, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has the highest number of vacancies at 392, followed by the ministry of housing and urban affairs (361), Office of the Controller General of Defence Accounts (321), and the Intelligence Bureau (316).A total of 30.69 lakh candidates from across the country have applied for CHSL 2025. The commission has now directed all candidates who appeared in the Tier-II examination to mandatorily fill their option-cum-preference for posts and departments by 6 pm on June 22.The CHSL Tier-I examination was conducted from Nov 12 to 30, 2025, while the Tier-II examination was held on April 10 and 22, 2026. Before issuing the first round of tentative allocation and the final result, the commission is seeking candidates’ preferences for posts and departments.The SSC has warned that candidates who fail to submit their post and department preferences within the stipulated time will not be considered for the first round of tentative allocation or the final selection process. It has also clarified that posts under the BRO are meant only for male candidates.Meanwhile, the commission has also declared the result of the computer-based examination for Delhi Police Constable (Executive) Male and Female Recruitment Examination 2025 and released the list of candidates shortlisted for physical endurance and measurement test and document verification.
